Arts NSW is a partner in an important and innovative new research project with the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Information & Cultural Exchange (ICE) and the Australia Council.
This research project investigates how arts and media in Western Sydney can shape 'cultural citizenship'. It will evaluate the extent that creative and media practices successfully engage culturally-diverse and disadvantaged audiences. This is ground-breaking research and it will look at how the internet and other media allow people to participate in cultural practices from which they might have felt previously excluded.
Arts NSW hopes to gain a better understanding of how to encourage artistic production out in the field and to respond strategically. It is hoped that this research will help improve funding, evaluation and policy priorities for Arts NSW, as well as other funding agencies.
