Review of Museums and Galleries NSW

Museums and Galleries NSW (M&GNSW) has been in operation since 1999. As a peak organisation, the role of M&GNSW has been to develop, maintain and support the gallery and museum sector throughout NSW, particularly regional NSW.

The NSW Government will be undertaking a review of M&GNSW in keeping with governance best practice, and in the context of the emerging needs and changes that have taken place in the museums and galleries sector over the last ten years.

The review will be conducted by Mr Peter Watts, AM, the former Director of the Historic Houses Trust. It will commence in July and will be concluded at the end of September 2009.

The review will include targeted consultation with relevant stakeholders, particularly the museums and galleries sector, the State's cultural institutions and nominated industry experts. All stakeholders are also encouraged to contribute to the review through an online survey details of which will be notified shortly.
