Minister for the Arts Frank Sartor today announced the 18 finalists for the 2007 NSW Premier’s History Awards, which celebrates historians’ commitment to exploring the past. The NSW Government provides $90,000 for the awards, which attracted 199 entries this year.

On its 10th anniversary, Sam Smith is the winner of the 2007 Helen Lempriere Travelling Art Scholarship. The Scholarship is one of Australia’s most lucrative awards to emerging artists, valued at $40,000.
