Applications to the Arts and Cultural Development Program funding categories are reviewed through an extensive peer assessment process.
Assessment Panels are established at the beginning of each funding round and are made up of people (called ‘peers’) with arts related expertise. Peers bring specialist knowledge and help us ensure an independent application assessment process. Panel members assess all applications, meet to make recommendations on funding and also provide independent advice to Arts NSW on issues affecting the arts and cultural sector.
To assist with the selection of panel members and to ensure these panels have an appropriate balance of expertise, experience and regional representation, Arts NSW has established a Peer Register. Registrations are accepted from individuals with:
- specialist artform knowledge
- a professional association in the arts and / or cultural sector
- experience of working with Aboriginal arts and culture
- experience of working with CALD (Cultural and Linguistically Diverse) arts
- business or legal expertise within the arts sector
- leadership or strategic planning skills
- a strong background in governance
Peers receive payment for their participation in the assessment process. Payment rates vary depending on the number of applications to be assessed and the length of the assessment meeting. Meetings range from one to four days. Arts NSW will arrange travel and accommodation for regional members.
Peer assessment panel members are required to comply with the Code of Conduct For Members of Arts NSW Assessment Panels
Registrations are accepted at any time and are retained for up to two years.
To register your interest please complete the Peer Panel Registration form.
Please note that we are moving previous registrations to the online system. If you need to make any changes please contact us for assistance.
Arts NSW staff assess all peer registrations on the basis of the skill set and expertise required for each panel. Registering does not guarantee that you will be invited to participate on a panel. Panel registrations are retained for up to two years and we may contact you to participate in later panels. You can contact us at any time to withdraw your registration.
Arts NSW is required to comply with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.
The information you provide in this form will be used for processing and assessing your eligibility for panel membership. If you are selected to sit on a panel your name will be published on the Arts NSW website. Arts NSW will not use personal information for any other purpose and will not disclose any information other than you name without consent.
