Dungog Film Festival
Established in 2007, the Dungog Film Festival showcases Australian films – past, present and future – in a non-competitive environment that celebrates and promotes Australian film culture.
The festival is held over four days in May each year at the James Theatre, Dowling Street, Dungog, which claims to be the oldest continuously running cinema in Australia, and other local venues.
The Dungog Film Festival fosters an appreciation of Australian screen culture and heritage through screenings and associated events including filmmaking master-classes with renowned film directors and cinematographers and live script readings performed by professional actors.
The Dungog Film Festival received funding from Arts NSW through the Screen Audience Development stream of the Arts Funding Program. The Screen Audience Development Program provides funding to organisations for public screenings, festivals or tours that create opportunities for audiences to see and experience quality screen content and innovative practice, for one-off or annual events, in single or multiple venues. The program is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to supporting our film industry and celebrating Australian stories through film.
