fLiNG Physical Theatres The Voyage
fLiNG Physical Theatres The Voyage explored the dynamism of human nature through the portrayal of an ocean voyage; courage, faith and fears were exposed as participants combated ocean myths, Davey Jones Locker and the Flying Dutchman.
In an ambitious exploration of low-level flight, fLiNG Physical Theatre was able to touch on the stories of those lost on the great South East coast through an amalgamation of dance, physical theatre, gymnastics and acting.
With guest choreographer Fiona Malone at the helm, The Voyage was a spectacular work resulting in six evening performances and two school matinee shows. Malone was able to hold three intensive rehearsal periods while regular fLiNG rehearsals were held weekly.
fLiNG are the only providers of professional infrastructure for performing arts in the Bega region and thus attracted over 30 auditions and an audience of over 800 people.
The Voyage was made possible by the Creation and Presentation stream of Arts NSW’s Arts Funding Program.
