Recognising Literary and History Excellence
A review of awards recognising excellence in literature and history is being carried out to ensure they continue to provide appropriate recognition of our best writers and enhance NSW’s reputation as a vibrant, creative and leading intellectual environment.
An independent panel has been appointed by the Premier to carry out the review of the Premier’s Literary Awards and Premier’s History Awards.
The panel comprises:
- Dr Gerard Henderson (Chair)
- Peter Coleman
- Shelley Gare
- Dr Ida Lichter
- Michael Sexton SC.
The review will consider ways to maintain and enhance the prestige and authority of the awards.
It will examine the governance, selection criteria and judging processes.
An announcement confirming the timing of the 2012 Premier’s Literary Awards and 2012 Premier’s History Awards will be made early this year.
